Ice pick scars are atrophic scarring characterised by deep, narrow pits typically less than 2mm across.
These scars extend deeply into the skin, resembling the appearance of being punctured by an ice pick or a similar object.
Boxcar Scars:
Boxcar scars are characterised by their angular shape and sharp, vertical edges.
They can vary in depth from shallow to deep.
Most commonly found on the cheeks and temples.
Rolling Scars:
Caused by damage beneath the skin surface, giving it a wave-like appearance.
They are typically wide and shallow.
Mechanism of Action:
Mechanically breaks down scar tissue.
Activates cellular enzymes known as matrix metalloproteinases, or MMPs.
Remodels scar tissue through the proper deposition of collagen and elastin.
Addresses the red and purple discoloration associated with acne scars by increasing blood flow.
Addresses the brown discolorations, or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), associated with acne scars by stimulating the skin’s natural growth factors.
